We are looking for stories about people who have done something extraordinary to make the community or country better or showed extraordinary bravery for the community or country.


The story you submit must:
· Be a true story about a real person and a real event or events.
· Be no more than 500 words and no less than 250 words.
· Be e-mailed to hero@sfoc.info by 8/12/09, or mailed to SACS, P.O. Box 2154, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
· Include a description of the person in 50 words or less (the 50 words should be in addition to the story).
· Include the following information about your hero: name, whether he/she is now living or deceased, residence, present age and age when the heroic event(s) occurred, gender, relationship to you (if any) and any other descriptive information you feel will enhance the story.
· Include your name, full address, phone number, and email address.
· Include permission for SACS to use the story in a publication and/or as a story told by a storyteller and to edit the story.

Stories will be judged on the content of the story. Writing ability will not be judged, however the overall entry must be clear and easy for our storytellers to understand.
If your entry is selected for telling, you must be willing to work with the storyteller who will tell the story.
Everyone submitting an entry will receive a certificate.

The person you write about must meet the following criteria:
· Live now or have lived in the United States.
· Not be famous or in history books.
· Be an ordinary person who has done something extraordinary for community or country, not just family.
(examples, a fireman, soldier, teacher, policeman, life guard, friend, neighbor, pilot, uncle, etc.)

All stories must be received by August 12, 2009.
