The Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast is proud to present...

American Heroes

A Celebration of America's Strength in Story and Song
Celebrating the amazing potency and energy of the American spirit ..... people of all stripes and plaids together, celebrating each other even when the violence of others tries to strike us down. American Heroes, a Celebration of America's Strength in Story and Song is a way to memorialize the tragedy of September 11, 2001, and at the same time celebrate ordinary Americans who continue to show extraordinary bravery or give magnificent contributions to their community.

Saturday, September 12, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Downtown Laurinburg, in and around The Storytelling Arts Center

131 South Main Street in Laurinburg, NC

There will be fun, games and craft activities, food, and music for the whole family to enjoy.
SACS is asking people across the state to contribute stories of their heroes.  We want to know who you admire and we want to bring their stories to life.  Judges will decide on several entries that experienced storytellers will fashion into tellable stories.

From noon to 2 pm in the Storytelling Arts Center there will be a presentation of the hero stories, by our tellers.  There will also be music, and a ceremony honoring those who have given their lives for the community and country.   Some stories that are not selected for telling will be posted in the Storytelling Arts Center for all to read.
