Eve Fleishman knows Laurinburg well, having visited many times to see her grandmother Lil Buie and other family and friends. Music lovers of Laurinburg will have the chance to listen to Eve as she serves up a sound that is at once refreshingly new and strikingly familiar. She will weave together elements of smoky jazz, motown pop, show tunes and a dab of country folk to create a most unique listening experience. "I like a little bit of everything," admits Fleishman. Since her days as a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Eve has honed her craft as a multi-faceted singer and songwriter.
Eve Fleishman grew up in Gainesville, FL and has been singing since she was a young child. She received a Master's Degree in American Studies from Florida State University and spent many years creating educational programs and exhibits for museums. In an effort to return to her musical roots, Eve attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, earning a Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Songwriting and Performance. After moving to Nashville, she released two CDs in 2007, a collection of jazz standards and an album of original kids' music with her duo, Eve and Mare (Wakefield). Eve's music has been played on radio stations world-wide (including XM) and she has appeared live on both TV and radio, including the Mitch Albom Show. She tours regularly in the U.S. and has graced the stage at Eddie's Attic (Atlanta), Cain's Ballroom (Tulsa), and the Ryman Auditorium (Nashville), just to name a few.
Eve also teaches music to children in a variety of settings. Her work with the Kid Pan Alley (KPA) project gave her valuable insight as to how to bring the songwriting experience into the classroom. In addition to her performances, Eve leads songwriting workshops. This independent "Jill of All Trades" has no thoughts of slowing down. Eve is now promoting a second kids' album while booking dates to showcase the new solo project, Peace or Drama. The new album features some of Nashville's finest, including David Henry, Charlie Worsham, Nomad Ovunc, Brook Sutton, and Daniel Dennis. Dennis, who produced the album with Eve, aimed to capture a live feel for the project, incorporating many acoustic instruments such as upright bass, mandolin, horns, strings, and baby grand piano. The result is a charming cache of tunes that establishes Eve Fleishman as a songstress for the ages, her music appealing to audiences young and old. "I just want to share my music and hope it makes a connection somehow," says Fleishman.
